The idea to start Curl Junkie(r) began with a simple suggestion made to me while still in beauty school.
I had left my prior lives behind (Wall Street,
Consulting, etc.) to pursue the dream that I had since I was about 10
years old, to become a hair stylist. In 2004, I decided to go after my goal and quit my job.
I then enrolled in one of the top beauty schools in New York City. It
was at that school that I drew attention, not just for being one of the
few girls at the school to wear her hair in its natural curly/kinky
state, but also for specializing in curly hair of all types and really
caring about the health of the hair.
Because of my obsession with curly hair and my
dissatisfaction with most of the products for curly hair already on the
market, I really began to scrutinize the products and research
ingredients. Then one day someone said to me "why don't you just make
your own products." My immediate response was "Yeah right, I wouldn't
know where to start." Well, here I am 4 years later and running strong
with Curl Junkie(r). Now, thanks to the support and input of friends,
family (including my 19 month old son, whose fine, curly hair has used
many of the products), customers, and clients, I've been able to take
the line to the next level and develop "cruelty-free", naturally based products that I am really proud
of. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

New happenings at Curl Junkie!
Read on for new and exciting news about what we've been up to all this time we were quiet!

After a year and a half of growing pains and working with different manufacturers and chemists, we have finally re-launched our product line with professionally manufactured and tested products, a new look, and new waterproof labels. It's taken a while to make sure the original products that remained in the line were correctly reproduced (actually better, due to the professional mixing, so the consistency may be slightly different, but the ingredients are the same), and it's been worth it! We've also added some photos of actual Curl Junkie(r) clients and models, so you can see some results for yourselves! You can also now purchase our products direct from our website and they will be shipped by our new shipping company (located in Texas). Also, we now ship to residents of Canada and the United Kingdom (funds must be in US Dollars) via USPS Priority Mail International!
Unfortunately, we've had to drop some of the under performing items from the line, but this has allowed us to introduce 7 new products that you will surely love! These new products were developed due to customer requests over the past months/years, such as: a protein-free and glycerin-free conditioner, a protein-free styling gel, and a gentle sulfate-free shampoo.
I have also started a blog where I will try to put some specific information on caring for, and styling your hair, ingredients questions/concerns, my own hair growing out process, customer raised questions/issues and any other issues related to curls and coils. Hopefully this will be a good place for everyone to learn and share together! You can also check out and join my groups on Facebook and Flicka where everyone can talk with each other and share your thoughts on the products and curls!

Please note that we are now having our items shipped via UPS (continental US only), USPS Priority Mail (US only) and USPS Priority International (6-10 business days-for Canada and the United Kingdom) from a more central location (Texas) that should provide a more level playing field for good shipping times for most customers.
